The soft center is made of leather: cutouts based on geometric, semi-three-dimensional patterns. The frames are made of brass or silver, intersections of simple geometric shapes that continue the direction of other recent collections.
The name of the collection, Softspot, meaning a weakness or a soft spot for someone or something, is a highly transparent cognitive metaphor. Any animal is vulnerable in the parts of its body that are soft and exposed. It is only a small step to transfer this idea into the mental realm—that is, to psychological vulnerabilities. This analogy is so deeply ingrained and implicit that it can be difficult to realize that what you are dealing with is, in fact, a metaphor. |
